What is the Difference Between a Crown and Bridge?

We give patients crowns to protect, strengthen, and improve the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are also used in conjunction with dental implant procedures to improve functionality. When creating your crowns, we color-match them to blend seamlessly with the rest of your teeth using materials such as:

Porcelain
Zirconia
Acrylic
Gold

Bridges can protect issues from gaps in your mouth due to missing teeth by “bridging” the space. We will also color-match your bridge as we make it for a natural appearance. Bridges are available in porcelain or ceramic material.

What to Expect

3D Scan

Fenton Family Dentistry uses a CEREC® machine to 3D scan, design, mill, and glaze your custom crowns and bridges. Here is what you can expect during your treatment.
Consultation Appointment

We will begin with a consultation appointment, where you can let our dental staff know about your concerns, objections, and opinions. Use this time to ask all the questions you want to be answered!
During Treatment

During the treatment, we will resize your tooth so the crown or bridge can properly fit on top.
Digital Impression

Next, we will take a digital impression of the area to design your new dental prosthetic.
Color Match

After color-matching your bridge or crown, we will bond it in place.
